Dr. Brightwell received his Bachelors in Biology from Northwest Missouri State University in 1981. He graduated with honors from UMKC School of Dentistry in 1985, and completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City the following year. Dr. Brightwell has continued his education by becoming proficient in new dental technology such as Lumineer Cosmetic Veneers, Invisalign (clear) Braces, and Dental Implants.
Dr. Brightwell is involved in many community activities and organizations, including the Kansas Mission of Mercy (KMOM), YMCA, American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, the 5th District Dental Society, and the Kansas Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. Additionally, Dr. Brightwell is a past Associate Clinical Professor of Dentistry at UMKC School of Dentistry where he taught in the areas of Quality Assurance and Emergency Care.
Dr. Brightwell has been married to his wife, Kim, since 1982 and has two children, Matt and Erin.
