I enjoy welcoming patients and catching up with what’s happening in their lives. Our patients are wonderful people, and I am glad to have a chance to meet and get to know them. Ours is a small practice, where we all focus on patient comfort and helping people feel relaxed and supported.
In addition to greeting and checking in patients, I schedule visits, answer the phones, and update records. I also process payments billing, and handle insurance matters. I generally work with patients on financials.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, baking, gardening, and, most of all, time with my family. I’m married and have a young daughter. Several dogs round out our family.
As a dental assistant, I assist Dr. Brightwell as well as assist the patient who may have questions or concerns. I seat patients, prepare them for their procedure, and explain what will happen. When the procedures are completed, I answer any questions patients might have about their dental care, including post-op instructions, and whether additional appointments are needed for further treatment.
I enjoy helping the patients feel comfortable and to assure procedures go smoothly. One of my main goals is to help patients achieve their oral health and cosmetic goals. My favorite part of dentistry is seeing someone that can't stop smiling, when they may have spent years trying to avoid it. It's very gratifying to know that I helped them want to smile more.
I recently moved to the Kansas City area from Salina, Kansas, and I am ready for the new adventure in the big city. On my time off I enjoy going to concerts, baking, doing canvas paintings, going on vacations, heading out to the lake and making it back home to see family and friends.

I am happy to work one-to-one with patients, and helping each person develop a cleaner, happier smile. Our conversations brighten my day, expand my world, and create a bond between the patient and myself: We become friends. And by learning about the person’s life and interests, I’m able to help people identify areas where they can improve their oral and overall health.
While cleaning teeth and performing scaling and root planing, I teach patients. I show them how to keep their mouth healthy and talk about nutrition and developing positive habits. A clean smile at a recall visit makes my day!
When I’m not in the office, I’m usually chasing my kids: My husband and I have young twins who are constantly on the go. In whatever spare time I can find, I love to read, do yoga, bake, and take long walks with our family dog.

I love time with my patients: I’ve known some of them for more than 40 years and value their friendship. It’s a good feeling to help people I care about learn how to take care of their smile, and partner with them as they improve their home oral hygiene.
I review and update health histories, take any necessary X-rays, and provide thorough and gentle cleanings. My most important task is patient education: I want people to understand why it’s important to keep their mouth clean and give them the knowledge to improve their homecare. When I see clean, healthy teeth and gums during a recall visit, I’m thrilled!
My husband Glenn was my high-school sweetheart. We’ve been married more than 40 years and have three grown children, along with two grandkids, a cat, and a dog. I love decorating, making jewelry, and supporting my grandkids’ activities, like volleyball and basketball.
